How to Rent an Aston Martin in LA For Your Next Trip
Understanding the process of renting a luxury car can be a major help when you are thinking about spicing up your next trip to LA with a really cool set of wheels to get you from place to place. There are some key differences between renting a luxury car and renting a normal car, so you will want to be aware of these differences before you land in LA and realize you aren’t ready to collect your rental car after all.
1. You Will Need to Find the Right Rental Agency
Not all rental companies have exotic and luxury cars in their inventory. You will need to do a little research to find the company that you want to work with. You should contact the companies in question as well and find out if you can put down a little cash to hold the specific car that you want to rent. This can ensure that you get the right make, model, and color for your car rental experience.
It’s a good idea to ask each rental agency about their policies and limitations and about pickup and drop-off. These rental car locations won’t be right on the airport property in most cases, so you will need to be sure that you are prepared to get to the rental agency, pick up your car, and get to your hotel. It can be easier to have your car dropped off in some instances, especially if you have lots of luggage that won’t fit into a supercar or sports car.
2. Understand The Insurance Requirements
You will need to be aware that your standard auto insurance policy will not fully cover a loss when you are renting an exotic or luxury car. These cars are incredibly expensive to buy or repair, so you will need to take out the extended auto insurance that is offered by the rental agency in most cases. This is the best way to protect your wallet and the business renting the car to you, and it is often a small fraction of the cost of a repair or total loss.
3. Understand Limitations
You will need to be at least 25 years old in most cases to be able to rent a luxury or exotic car. You will also need to have a valid driver’s license, and you will need to have proof of insurance when you arrive to get your car. If you have a bad driving record, some companies will deny you a rental, so check with them first if this might be an issue for your rental contract.
You will be limited in where you can drive most of these kinds of cars, and you will need to be sure that you do not exceed the daily mileage limitations as well. These cars are prone to theft, which is why you might be told that the car cannot be driven in certain places in the city. You will also be limited to a specific number of miles per day to help protect the lifespan of the vehicle. You should be sure as well that you are allowed to drive to locations outside the city before you assume that this is allowed.
4. You Will Place a Security Deposit
In some cases, you will place a security deposit at the time that you choose to hold a specific car for your rental, or you might be asked to place this security deposit when you show up to pick up your car. This deposit shows good faith that you understand the rental responsibilities and requirements, and it also allows the rental agency to charge the remainder of the rental cost to your card when you are done with the rental.
This is nonnegotiable, and you will have to use a major credit card to handle this part of the rental process. If you don’t have a major credit card, you will need to apply for one before you can rent this kind of car.
